As excitement built in anticipation of the First Annual Barrio Logan Winery Grape Stomp in 2009, a total of 15 teams entered, each team consisting of four stompers seeking to stomp their way to victory.  They competed for a variety of prizes in categories such as most popular and most juice produced. A  team of four fantastic women friends beat out the competition to claim the crown there first place winnings of $300.00 went to a non-profit, MANA de San Diego.
In 2010, 20 four-person teams submitted entries and the result was the same - the defending champs successfully stomped their way to another victory and their $500.00 winnings went to the Sherman Heights Community Center.
The two-time defending champs “The Defenders” are back in 2011 to take on all teams ready to dethrone them.  Will you dare to field a team this year?  We encourage you to speak to your friends and family about fielding a team for this year's competition which promises to have more teams, food, entertainment and a lounge area in the winery.
Each year Barrio Logan Winery owner Juan Ramon Diaz looks forward to producing more wine in anticipation of the Grape Stomp and helping community organizations.
"I love making wine.  It's something I have always wanted to do." Diaz said.  "I get to do something I have a passion for and become a part of the effort to help the community.  Come and join us!
